It seems that all REE deposits share this issue to some degree chemist1949, it’s not unique to the Yangibara Project, yet mining is ongoing at various locations around the world including LYC at Mt Weld, indicating that there is a solution to the issue (other than a thorium reactor). I wonder how LNY deal with the issue? ILU presumably has these problems with various mineral sands operations around the world too, but must solve them.
The NORMS management plan appears to be described in some detail in the document that you were directed to earlier in this thread. I’m not an environmental scientist, so can’t comment on the robustness of the plan but I presume that as the Australian government is prepared to invest taxpayers money into the project, that an acceptable solution for storing residues is apparent.
