If we get very close but fall short there are some small savings that could be made, and holding back some letters is one option. Another option is to combine multiple letters for the same address into a single envelope. Each letter not posted separately saves about $1. And because some of the mailhouse charges are per-thousand letters there's about $200 to be saved if the number of letters can be reduced to below 7,000. That's a possibility because there are only 7,170 holders in total so only 171 would have to be trimmed

I sorted the data by address and did a quick skim through looking for multiples. There are some decent-sized batches. I saw one with 49 holders all at the same address. I'm concerned about the privacy ramifications of combining that batch though. It's clearly an investment or advisory service. If they just hand the envelope to one of the holders that will expose the identities of the other holders. Groups of people with the same surname at the same residential address would be safer, but it's still risky.

On balance I'm banking (get it... banking!) on fully funding the mailout. With $3,500 raised so far I think we can be confident.
