Shorter term , yes , buying from alternative markets . US has increased production , Venezuala and Iran brought back into the fold - so more oil available on the world market and spring in N hemisphere. They did try and convince Saudi to increase production but last I heard they weren't co-operating .
Energy imperialism ? Any country can buy from Russia if they want , no-one stopping them , just that a lot of civilised countries DON'T want to support Russia considering their aggression . Much of Erope rather than plundering as you say is aiming to be self sufficient for energegy .
But ignore the facts and grump away if it makes you happy .
