Sorry but I think you have it a bit wrong the 21 Million (21,340,607) was the number reported as sold short in yesterdays trading not the net outstanding position.
You've not got that right......the position on the 28th were the total aggregate short positions as at that date.....this total amount is reported T+4 days or even more depending on when ASIC report it.
The new shorts opened yesterday of 21mil are in addition to what the total number is and the there was an addition of 7.5mil on 29th April.
So total shorts are going up and might be up around 170mil now??...but that wont be reported until next Wednesday.
