A director's obligation is to the company - not the shareholders - and this is not the same thing. It is unrealistic to expect a new director to go rogue against the board, or do anything other than put pressure on the rest of the board (and perhaps the executive) with respect to operations/disclosure. Check out the sanctions on Musk (in the US) when he blurted out inside information. New directors are not magic bullets. You will have to wait on this.
