Whilst we clearly need an ICAC
what we really need is a just, honest and fair society with a good moral base - honour, integrity, trust
what we have is a 'screw you' 'we take what we can get away with' and 'we make sure you get as little as possible' because - we're the team and you are not
it's also not just for the personal enrichment of the players
one has entire organisations which are mostly full of people who knowingly abuse and even sit down to design how to abuse the clients and customers --
insurance companies, government departments and offices
there are good ones, I've run into a few public servants and the odd service person in business who goes well out of their way to not only do the right thing by the customer and client - but, to see that they are looked after if at all possible
these people, however, are rare birds and almost always don't seem to last long in their positions -
it's wonderful to meet people who want to help people - but, it's disappointing to find people who aren't capable - you have to suggest things - that's bad enough - but, oh boy, when you meet ones that for whatever reason are basically the enemy - well, it's more than disappointing -
I've met a number of them - people who - perhaps work in insurance companies - and, they go out of their way to trap you into using or agreeing with words that they specifically plant for you --------- and as soon as you agree or similar - they deny the claim
I detest such practices and unfortunately - it's rife in Oz
