Well, if you think I said Ukraine is a NATO member I can't help you. Ukraine materially is a basket case and its status as a basket case largely renders the question of whether or not Putin is a monster as a secondary debate.

Putin can use the excuse that Ukraine is a threat because of the international corruption, and as neither you or anyone else can find any examples of a leader with Russia's military capability ignoring a military presence on its border, it's really hard to mount any serious case that what he has done is historically unusual. That's not to say I like what has happened, but America, Britain, China would all have reacted the same way if this intrusion was on their borders.

In my preferred world globalism would not exist and individual nations would not be exploited by debt and greed. We should have fought against it 80 years ago. That time has past and so this sort of $hit will continue. Sending several million more to die in Ukraine won't help.
