That really is the problem.

Once the war started (prevention would have been better though and IMO achievable), only diplomacy would have worked to minimise death and destruction. Nothing else.

But to do that you needed a great diplomat in Ukraine. Zelensky is no diplomat.

(You mentioned JFK (may he RIP) - problem is that you only have ONE JFK in a lifetime although RFK (may he RIP) would have come close.)
