I think that the part of you that hopes DLE works is a good part, ponds are part of the past not the future, and you don't need to be Einstein to see why. First there is going to be a massive increase in demand, but ponds can't just ramp up because ponds have reached a limiting factor and that's aquifer depletion. Pumping water out of an aquifer has consequences. Already we have seen conflict between locals and lithium producers in the Lithium Triangle.
Plus, ponds leave up to 50% of the lithium in the waste. Now, no one cared about that when lithium was cheap, but times change. I would hate to be a CEO at an AGM answering the question about why we are throwing 50% of our product away.
