Scott, I employ staff covered by an Award. Their wages are lower than the Australian average wage, yet their pay has increased each year a tad above the official CPI. I understand however exactly where you're coming from and would wish for a more accurate gauge of where the "average" wage truly lies. Perhaps a "median" wage would be more representative.
