Russia doesn't have a 'powerful military' though, they have a total shambles masquerading as a powerful military.
Putin should pull his dilapidated forces and old obsolete equipment back to Russia and stop making 'demands'. He has no right to demand anything of anyone. He already got away with outrageous violations of international law when he invaded Crimea and the Donbas. The reality is thatUkraine is a sovereign country, and can do as it pleases. No-one had any plans to attack Russia, that was all just Putins pretext to try and conquer Ukrainian territory. Rather than threaten to use nukes Putin should face up to the fact that his military has been whipped, and give up the failed campaign now.
