Thank you, you're very kind. As you are interested in disc repair you will be pleased to hear that there is a significant body of knowledge already on repair of intervertebral discs with pentosan. The title and abstract of this review will give some idea of the work. This is quite a wide ranging review, and what is really striking is how stem cells are the target of pentosan in these treatments.
Pentosan induces stem cells within the joint to proliferate.
It causes pluripotent stem cells within the joint (capable of forming into many different tissues) to differentiate into chondrogenic stem cells (forming into cells of the types of tissues found in the bone and joint).
It induces those stem cells to start expressing hyaluronic acid, proteoglycans, collagen and other components that are important to building the tissue and extracellular matrix.
I want you to pay particular attention to this paragraph (BM-MSC = Bone Marrow Mesenchymal Stem Cell, IVD = Intervertebral Disc, ECM = Extracellular Matrix). It says you can repair bone, tissue and cartilage with stem cells that have been cultured with pentosan, and this can be used for disc repair:
When you consider this avenue of work, the applications of pentosan go far beyond arthritis, and into support for all kinds of tissue repair therapy. You can construct scaffolds impregnated with stem cells and cultured with pentosan to effect all sorts of tissue repair. There are many other tissue repair effects and applications discussed in the review.
I don't think Paradigm's self-description as a drug repurposing company has been fully appreciated. OA is a blockbuster drug. But beyond that there are many, many more applications of pentosan. These are all sitting below the waterline, generally out of sight at the moment. But over time they will emerge. The number of potential product lines is almost unlimited. We've only scratched the surface.
IMO PAR's description of itself hasn't been fully appreciated.
