"but sadly their input is very limited."
maybe
we can often never tell where an idea or concept will go
I have two examples in mind - and, one, is of deep personal interest.
1. Permaculture - the concept is commonly attributed to Bill Mollison - but, the reality is that Mollison got the idea from a student paper that was submitted to him (from memory)
so, that's a pretty big spin off from an idea - just a spark
2. I had the privilege of seeing a concept that I worked on right from the beginning of Uni year 1 and I followed that theme right through my first years of uni ------------ was taken up by my sociology lecturer as a PhD and further studies and work - it was exactly and precisely my idea. When I saw years later what she had then devoted her life to - I was chuffed to see it - because she was and is a weapon and, she would and could carry the concept far further than I would ever have been capable of. I noted that she even used a similar run of studies (the same in some cases)
the lesson - that a simple idea can become a major work - and that major work is then seen by thousands of others and begins a life of it's own ---------- pretty bloody good from my perspective.
so, someone standing about at some greens fest or population sustainability fest - talking about an idea or thought they have - one can never tell what may spin off that ------------------- just a casual conversation even - might be the best work one has ever done in one's life - and, maybe - one never ever gets to know the input that one has had.
