I agree with your comments regarding the management. I think some good M@A has been made in recent years and sound plans for the future. Plus, with an underlying estimated half year profit, before tax, of $183 Mil and approx. 257 Mill SOI, the after tax half year EPS should be approx 50 cents. If the second half is similar then the forward PE is approx. 11. This does not seem expensive IMO.
I hold APE in my SMSF as a long term investment. If there is a major recession in the near future and the share price falls dramatically, I will purchase some more APE. Recessions, while very bad for many (I know this personally), are the exception- most of the time the economy is growing.
