@daytona600 - That is what the Liberals usually do - I have had occasion to observe 'them' close-up here in Western Australia - there was almost a dynasty of Liberals in charge for many years and things got done 'their way' looking out for their business friends and the miners - luckily the mining sector seems to keep everyone in a good living standard. Liberals see themselves as the inheritors of the ruling class as in former feudal societies. Labor has always been the party of the reformers - initially revolutionaries - but have calmed down in most Western democracies to a reform party with fairly modest agendas - allowing the rich to continue to get most of the benefits of what they think is the fruit of their cleverness and business acumen.
In the United States both parties, the Republicans and Democrats simply serve the rich - I believe this is what Trump profited off - allowing the neglected sections of that society to think that he stood up for them. It is perfect soil for an autocrat to rise and cudgel the remains of democracy into submission; with the ultimate aim to also enrich himself and his family and buddies. Interestingly this seems to be the 'business model' also in Russia - arising from a former government which originally rose 'from the people' by way of a revolution.
At least that's my assessment - now with a genuine reform party in charge, we might get something done in many neglected areas including seriously tackling climate change.
Go well
