If only we can get our house in order there should be a big need for vanadium (for batteries ) in Australia. At present our politicians and business leaders only see Lithium/ion as the battery solution when, in fact, vadimum redox flow batteries are far better for large scale storage. With lithium so much in demand for cars and the price of lithium currently very high someone needs to be talking to our politicians about the Vanadium solution!! This would be good for both the EV car industry and Australia's energy supply.
The Labor Party, whether or not they need support, looks like it will really push ahead with non-fossil energy. As a coalition supporter I wrote to the Treasurer a couple of years ago and said it was going to happen, if not by the then government then by the next Labor Government. I will not be unhappy with having a Labor Government if they can pull it off effectively and I think the most effective solution would involve Vanadium in a big way.
