    Because a whole bunch of new shares became available for people to buy and hold.

    Demand > supply price goes up.

    Supply > demand price goes down.

    Many people in raise happy to sell the shares and just keep the oppies = more shares in circulation for those wanting to buy - - > price goes down.

    Simple.
