Working at an AGL generation site for a bit, I did hear a rumour prior to the announcement that actually has a lot of merrit
As we are seeing super companies drop fossil fuel, AGL is in the chopping board. The demerger allows "New AGL" to not fall in this category and be held by institutional holdings, whilst Accel will be condemmed.
To be honest, with how wholesale prices are at the moment, I think either way we are looking at a win. Electricity prices going up from 1st of July, and wholesale prices more than double last year
