About 10 or so years ago BOQ made an unsolicited takeover offer for BEN ( you can check exact time on net)
The BEN board did NOT welcome it.
And in their defence, they rushed out and merged with Adelaide Bank.
In their haste BEN imo do not do their due diligence
and finished up with Adelaide Bank “great southern loans’”
A real fiasco at the time.

That has finally been sorted…….

And these days BEN is clearly the next biggest bank
after the big 4

So they’re going ok

Short answer re merger

There is no way BEN should consider merging with BOQ
BEN a much larger bank than BOQ
BEN already has a presence in QLD …
So no advantage to BEN….

And fwiw
I’m not impressed with the BOQ current CEO/MD an ex Westpac banker.
