What a bullshite response ; international miners mine tenements right across the world, incumbent miner or not, in the end the profits end up in companies hands and the government get royalties / taxes etc; that last video showed that the DRC government would take in $4b+ over the current mine life and that Manono would prosper as a region.
Without international mining companies whom bring expertise / standards DRC would be stuck in the dark ages using child labour, horrendously unsafe mining conditions etc. just look at how the locals mine out the Tin in Manono at present and the conditions they’ve been doing it in ; Manono may indeed be eventually mined without any assistance from Internationals, but that would have been way off; plus government wouldn't have reaped billions from it either; instead it would have lined the pockets of Kabila & co ; Manono would also remain a shlthole ; where as AVZ already have programs of social improvement ticking away, medical assistance programs etc etc etc.
BHP, RIO, Fortescue, Glencore, South32, Newcrest etc etc ( you notice so Aussie names in there
) all have international operations whereby the ‘lease’ tenements ; a large percentage of mines would never have occurred only for international, and of course a massive amount of royalties / taxes would never have been generated for those home countries
So you reckon the likes of Government owned companies like Cominierie or , maybe privately owned DRC mining companies such as Dathomir should be the ones running the likes of Manono ; lol, ye ye, you can see how that would go when they are already trying to cut chunks off behind the governments back and flick it off to the liked of Zijin and co in order to line their own private pockets....amazing that the 5m handed over from Zijin to Cominiere officials went walk about .
Pretty embarrassing for the likes of FT whom has been trying to push the DRC as the battery centre whilst also including AVZ on the council; only to have some DRC cockroaches climb out of the woodwork and fouling things for their own personal benefit.
Ye I see your point
