I have a cursory understanding of the stapled nature of these securities. But can someone explain this to me like I'm 5? How do we determine what % of the dividend is a genuine dividend, vs what is a return of capital?
And id imagine that for the capital component, we reduce or depreciate the listed security by the same amount come tax time and make it up in CGT? Lot of record keeping, particularly if one anticipates a very long term hold
