    "Really, so the gas we do currently produce that would alleviate the shortages, is sent overseas. And extracting it out of the ground at a faster rate would somehow magically change this situation where Australia plays second fiddle to the rest of the world with our own gas. "

    Name one reason why extracting gas out of the ground at a faster rate today would not alleviate the domestic shortage.

    When you increase supply of something, the scarcity of that something is reduced.

    It's an economic axiom taught an all schools of economics
