Near DRAM costs ... depending how near may be a hard sell.
You are conveniently forgetting that every ISA in the world is written to refresh as per DRAM standards. You cannot just plug a stick of 4DS in and have the system "know" to not refresh it every 60 odd milliseconds. It is far more complicated than that and you are leading the ignorant on.
Literally hundreds and thousands of instruction set code lines need to be written to exploit the long retention time. Last I checked, the entire infrastructure is geared to DRAM and has been for some time. Developers are expensive. That transition will be expensive. And slow.
It will take multiple years to shift to new instruction sets... most likely they end up catering to both.
I do not doubt it will happen.
But you and I both know it is not as simple as plug and play.
