I suspect that some investors think that interest rates for deposits will go back to 5% or or similar and therefore sell now and use the money in term deposits or maybe they are concerned about the volume of fixed interest mortgages that banks have. I see BEN is down a lot too.
Or maybe reacting to fact that WBC first to p[ass on the increase.
In any case it appears to be an overreaction as per markets in general.
