It seems that June will be continue to be a traditionally ‘pedestrian month’. As we walk through it, I feel many company’s seem more content to hold their cards tightly to their chests. Also, some accountants and stockbrokers may not yet to be in a position to advise their clients to offset capital gains until another week or two.

Meanwhile, I’ve been listening to DC's Stockhea#d talk/story. As @SaddleTramp suggested, it seems that DC is also keeping his cards very tight to his chest.

Nevertheless, he does state that, ‘Chinese demand is growing faster than they can produce it themselves’. Due to the opaqueness of graphite pricing, all we can do is join the dots. So, if you look at the other side of the battery equation, it gets very interesting. Yesterday we had Simon Moores stating in a tweet that, Chinese EV carmaker BYD is investing in lithium supply from Africa! ‘But a red herring for any huge new supply of lithium chemicals. All mines if ever up and running will be small…’

Securing supplies in the face of rising costs seems to be the name of the game! Therefore, a similar situation is most likely happening with graphite. As the transition to EV is now globally government incentivise, further fuelled by ‘Putin’s carbon tax’, it has ensured that the West will do what it takes to wean-off oil and gas quicker than anticipated, we must see an uplift very soon. There have been false starts in the past but things are clearly different now. Renascor is in the box seat to lead Aussie graphite exports.

Other interesting points from the talk: About: 18.20min

'Today, people don’t want to make significant downstream investments … but we’re in the right kind of jurisdiction to do a higher value-added project – low sovereign risk, secure, industrial base.'

'We’re hoping to be an example to the mining sector of how you can leverage into a very good resource, similar to want we are seeing in the lithium sector in Western Australia.'

    Plenty of news to come.
