deedee's post illustrates the rod retailors have made for their own back. Constant stream of advertising emphasising discount prices from all large chains means customers can compare and bargain with salesstaff to get even a cheaper deal. A friend of mine used to sell electrical goods at HVN. She said customers sometimes wouldn't even leave home. they would ring 4 stores and then go to that offering the cheapest price.
I used to visit JBH stores reguarly to get a feel for things. Shops were generally qite busy but I'd notice a highish staff turnover. Don't make sales target by month 2 and your're on-yr-bike. Hence, many stores (not just JBH) have staff with minimal product knowledge and under huge pressure to make their sales target.
Low prices=small margins. Next month will reveal how 2H10 was. Meanwhile i still feel $20 is under threat.... finally!!
I am still overseas. Are electrical retailors still offering post-Christmas markdowns?
