The Alliance of Unsophisticated Amateurs applauds the continued fascination by foreign investors with the performance of the Dow Jones 30 Industrials, especially in relation to alternative-energy stocks. Preservation of 20th-Century habits is essential, and nothing is more traditional than a small slice of the American market that includes two oil companies. There is also Tesla, which reflects the personality of an eccentric CEO who digs tunnels but not battery metals.

The best reference, occasionally mentioned here, is the LIT ETF. For a wider snapshot, there is the Nasdaq. But those jeopardize worship of the archaic. Let’s keep the Dow on its altar, and continue to monitor it blindly like our pre-Digital Age great-grandparents.
