Brewsters , I disagree when you say ....Schedule wise covid S#@t happened. Hospitals and more to the point medical research establishments were open even during peak covid, I personally know people who even had elective surgery during that time, they were not turned away.. minor delays.. and I myself broke an arm during peak covid and within 30 minutes of seeing the doctor for a prelim assessment I was at a diagnostic imaging clinic and seen to straight away. Wife had routine mammagram ... no delay, also . Cant hide behind covid on this one. Its been a disastrous recruiting phase with no end in sight, despite the infamous "on-track" comment ... blah blah ... and yeah right, whats that now, looking to years end now to get the required patient enrollments .... blah blah. Given the serious nature of cancer and the urgency of treatment/assessments I can't see how covid would have been a serious obstacle to recruitment given these diagnostic places were not closed down. Lets put that to rest. Nope, its a lack of incentivization as I said from day one when it was apparent after 6 months or more that we only had one enrollee. The trial cannot in and of itself assist directly with patient treatment and recovery so why would a prospective candidate actually enroll. Much as it would be nice to hope for, I dont think altruism is a sufficient reason. A financial inducement would have stood a far better chance, and the Ethics Committee that overseas medical trials permits incentives in some circumstances where enrollments are proving difficult. That 1 enrollee after 6 months or more was the alarm bell ringing loud and clear. Increasing the number of testing sites to 4 seems not to have done the trick and as Bob has now said in his latest communication, enrollment remains challenging. Hello...if covid was even a slight obstacle before, and I doubt it was for the reasons stated above, it surely is not an obstacle right now, yet enrollments remain "challenging" . The reason is clear, and incentivization is an option with nothing to lose trying it
