Biotron is not an eligible "Administering Institution" for these NHMRC grants. BIT would have to partner with one of the eligible AIs, which are generally Universities and research institutions. With the spread of funding of only $33mil over, I expect, many applying institutions, there would not likely be the kind of funds required for a Phase 2 tria\. Also, the funds would be for research purposes - not trials for potential commercialisation such as a phase 2 trial. so my surmise is that this funding option is not one which would be of much use to Biotron in its current phase of development.
One could hope that there would be other significant funding for a crucial trial such as this for what could be a real breakthrough in treatment of Covid world wide. But this is S'tralia mate. Buckleys! I hope I can be proved wrong!
