many countries are now banning short selling stocks. And the exchanges haven't collapsed nor has liquidity.
I say get rid of shorting all together, if the shorters want it put it with the futures exchange and have a combined CFD/ futures exchange seperate to the ASX.
The talk of shorting adds value and liquidity etc isn't founded. If that was the case, these countries bAnning shorting in their exchanges would be failing and they aren't.
public opinion just needs to be such that shorting destroys wealth of mums and dads. I'd say most people on here saying shorting is ok is probably a sophisticated investor and or have shorted before. Putting themselves outside of the majority of retail investors and my point exactly.
