I think Bingy hit the nail on the head, you would be better trading the options of BHP rather than the fully paids as there is more volocity in the options than the fully paid shares.

I dont know if there are put and call options for BHP like American shares with many different expiry dates or if the options are only call options with one or a few expiry dates.
Others may help you with that or you could google it.
Yes some of the smaller miners offer better fully paid share trading potential.
I am currently in miners NKP SLR TTY NAG MFC MHM HIG CRC SAU. Of those I would think MFC and TTY offer the best short term trading in the next 2 months.
