I did hear a funny story today that explains the energy crisis we are facing at the moment. A mate who works at one of the Centennial pits near Newcastle was saying their contracts for the power stations have provisions where if the coal supply isn't met then the company has to pay a fee. Apparently they are exporting it all and simply coping the fee and still pocketing mega bucks.
If this is the case then I expect the government to step in soon to block this
