Perhaps I can add a little light...
Bones in themselves can and do repair themselves, its a slow process over weeks, sometimes months. Its faster in children compared to adults. If the conditions are right, this process is a fairly smooth and consistent one.
Cartilage is a bit more problematic. It in itself cant re-grow itself but the tissues underneath can assist. Chondroblasts are the cells that are responsible for manufacturing new cartilage.
So what is the role of iPPS...well this needs a Mozz post but in summarised form, there are many ways iPPS helps.
Glossing over some points:
1) iPPS helps directly and indirectly to promote these types of cells
2) iPPS increases the vascular system that helps to feed this process with nutrients required
3) iPPS mildly thins the blood out so again, these nutrients can be delivered to the very edge up to the bone and cartilage and surrounding tissues.
4) Bio chemically there is a heap going on, I mean a heap, too complicated for me...but through the interactions and cell signalling and of course multiple protein interactions this process also gets assisted. Binding between TIMP and ADAMTS5 is just one such example.
5) Cell Matrix interactions are also assisted by iPPS, its the feeding ground for required re-growth.
6) As if all the above isn't enough, iPPS also tackles pesky chronic inflammation, the body is trying to repair itself but it gets distracted with entirely way too much inflammation....how can I put these da*n fires out when all I can hear are the st**pid alarms going off in my head...turn the alarms off, I know there is a problem and let me just fight the fire so the body has a chance to then spend decent energy repairing damage and addressing the actual underlying problems as much as possible.
Enough already...
