As per pic posted above and to the left the acid dissolves the limestone which increases the flow rate in the column. This occurs because the co2 and helium is trapped in pockets and therefore acid stimulation increases that flow rate. Noting they can only pump in a quantity of acid up to a pressure less than the existing pressure so they don't crack the seal which is different to fracking. All as Alchemist has said beforehand.
