OMG - what country do you live in ?? Companies don't take all the risk - they get massive help from government at all levels and these governments are funded by taxpayers, the owners of natural resources ... get it ? They not here in Aussie for charitable work - its where the best prospects are, along with a sound legal system, in a stable democracy, that provides lots of services like a (tax payer subsidised) well educated population, that has a largely free world class health system (as opposed to the massive cost of health cover to companies in the IOUSA) and inputs from the CSIRO, university and other government subsided entities. The overwhelming importance of strong robust public services was dramatically illustrated in the way Australia handled the COVID pandemic ... which include massive amounts of subsidies (socialism) for business.
The purpose of government is to provide services and protection for its citizens aka the shareholders in Australian Inc ... the idea that all money should be pumped into the system through the stock market is right fringe capitalism BS - This country has a structural financial deficit thanks to successive " Liberal " governments socialism for business and agriculture.
Despite Norways collecting most of the revenue from its North Sea gas, it has no trouble attracting capital investment ... and while living generously off the proceeds of selling carbon, preaches the low carbon message to the rest of the world and wants to close down Australia's leading exports.
It's simply impossible to have a civilised society unless government has adequate taxation, and in this country the lion share of tax is paid by individuals, while there has been wage stagnation, while profits have soared. In case you haven't noticed most of Australia's billionaires have become rich by exploiting community resources, and minimising tax.
SMR and BCB and other cool companies will still do extremely well ... but enough is never enough for "free market" warriors is it ??
