Winkinatcha, I can see where you are coming from. What I would argue is that the investment I make in stocks which I hold over the medium to longer term is far from gambling because I put an immense amount of effort into understanding these businesses.
Intra-day or overnight trades tend to move closer to the gambling end of the spectrum but these decisions still have both technical and fundamental research behind them which helps me increase my success strike rate. If I am trading over a very short time frame I quickly assess technicals followed by the total number of shares on the market, recent issues and other price sensitive announcements.
