With hindsight now, I think it is a matter of perspective. If you look at the tech that has since been developed and product that is now standing on the cusp of commercialisation, I don't think the spent had been excessive. There had been a problem of optics previously when the company was running low on cash and management remuneration looked a tad alarming . But I now believe Wayne has always backed his own vision and his own ability to deliver.
However if these self interests(of management) are relegated to pacify shareholders ' pain from jumping in too early, then we would not be talking about taking on the likes of Edwards and Medtronics. We would be salvaging what we can from some insolvency firm.
