Life would be pretty boring if there were nothing to gamble on. The suicide rate would sky rocket as the reality of a changeless fate set in to the masses.
This guy I know said me after I asked him why he had never taken an interest in the stock market "Chris, I don't gamble". This same guy buys Powerball and other lotto stuff ritually. I didn't bother saying anything to him about his gambling habits (which he clearly did not see) as I realised that his comment was to cover up his own feelings of inadequacy by painting himself as more righteous that I. I just smiled inside.
It really depend on one's definition of "gamble". For me the stock market is a gamble. For me, most of life is a gamble: who you marry; what career path you follow; do I go through this orange light or not; do I believe in God just in case He's real etc etc
PS - Good subject heading to get the punters fire up.
