    Hi Fella's,

    The Iron Recovery Plant is an integral part of the Acid Regen Plant. Or is it that the Acid Regen Plant is an integral part of the Iron recovery Plant? As they are both part of the same plant it's probably a change in focus by Austpac to emphasise the Iron Recovery aspect of the whole plant as the Austpac Reduced Iron is the most salable aspect of the whole process.

    So the plant can be given several names. When it's only part of the Syn rutile plant it is just an acid regen plant, however when it is a stand alone plant for a steel works it has three functions for which it can be given a name;

    1. Acid or Spent Pickle Regeneration which also recovers usable iron and gets rid of waste disposal problems.

    2. The iron recovery plant which recovers waste iron units (usually lost as rust) as high grade iron for direct injection to the furnace and also regenerates spent pickle and gets rid of waste disposal problems.

    3. A Waste control plant mitigating the amount of spent pickle and rust that has to be dumped at significant cost.

    If you had to pick a name from those three functions I think the Iron Recovery Plant is the most salable to steel works. The other two functions are extra added bonuses.

    My understanding is that this piece of machinery is worth a mint but APG were able to snaffle it a a very considerable discount. As the announcement says it makes the iron being produced very salable. And the CSIRO tests have proved that.

    Cheers

    Seik
