Hi Kwiis, I set up my own self managed fund last year. It was bloody expensive but so far I have killed it. About 3k and 2k a year for auditing.
After 35 years of working I had 232K in my super (Yah I know what a joke) I kept my old fund as all my insurances where in place and I didnt want to change them. I withdrew 200k and left the 32k in the old fund.
I bought 500,000 CXO shares at .31 (I already have 750,000 odd shares in my own name that I started buying .035), and I bought 350,000 odd SYA shares at .10ish. The only trade I have done since in my superfund was sell the SYA shares at .28 and bought 2650 Westpac shares (only on the advice of my accountant to put the profits into bluechips) and another 68,000 CXO at about .75 ish.
Cut a long story short I have over tripled my superfund in less than 12 months and I expect it to double again in the next 12 months and set me up for the rest of my life. Best decision I ever made
P.S. I just checked my old fund balance and even afer making 6k odd contributions over the last 12 months it now worth 14k
