@Justis - Lucky you - I wanted to go to that one instead of 'the Louvre' because it as all the impressionists - my favourite painters - but we went there as a family group - our Swiss and Austrian connections - and we had to obey majority rule . . . . The Louvre is a challenge, it is so huge - I spent a lot of time in the shop section of the glass pyramid, where you could also see the best of the collections on picture postcards, shawls etc. - but did venture into the classical sections.
We also lined up as a group of 6 in front of Versailles, found a queue snaking round and round in the inner courtyard and my cheeky brother-in-law said: 'watch this and follow me' - and he, with us in tow, marched right up to the ticket office, approached one of the queuing people and said: 'thanks for keeping my group's place' in French and gave them a big smile - and no-one said anything and we lined up behind him. He had what I call 'chuzpe' (and I would never do)
did you enjoy the paintings at the Musee D'Orsay?
