We don't live in Russia so Political Scientists and Historians who call it as
they see it are not jailed or worse executed

The speech gives historical context and while it does not purport to
defend Russia's invasion of the Ukraine, it , like a murder trial,
    outlines motivation and provocation .#

IMO , while I abhor Russia's behaviour in this instance, i find it useful
to understand its motivations and its perceived provocations leading
into 24th Feb 2022 and for that reason Professor Mearsheimer's
    speech is useful.

I guess we'll simply have to sit back and, like Iraq, judge the Ukraine
    War by its outcome, IMO.

    # Just look at the anxt that China's deal with the Solomons is causing
which is 1700 kms away from our border (not 17 kms) even though
no Chinese military hardware of fighting personnel have been landed there.

All countries have perceived spheres of influence outside their borders
whether that be for trade, national security etc etc (USA sphere of influence is global) and should PNG allow
a Chinese Military/Navy/Airforce base in Southern PNG, then I doubt that there
would be any posters on these threads advocating that that is PNG's sovereign right to do so !
