Even though it may not be i the best suburb you will achieve equity that brings ecurity and opportunity to buy in a better suburb next time. I bought in one of the oldest crappiest suburbs in Perth when I started out also. As do most people that are fortunate to have two incomes otherwise we would have been stuck in the rental cycle forever. It took until my third house to get a nice big home with all the fruit but we still had to build in the furthest edge of the suburbs north of the city.
