As you ask debono, I am not against all immigration though bacci may have suggested a total ban and I might have said I agreed. I can't remember exactly what was posted early in this thread, but I don't support a carte blanche ban.

In certain circumstances such as an Australian citizen marrying overseas then of course he/she should be able to bring their spouse and any children they may have had in another country here to live. The children would be Australian citizens by descent anyway.

But apart from this type of situation I do support a ban or very big reduction on further immigration until we have a serious enquiry into Australia's carrying capacity and also what sort of future Australians want. This ban would also apply to asylum seekers who would need to be sent back where they came from or to some country which would accept them.

IMO Australia can probably carry quite a few more people if they are settled in suitable areas away from our crowded major cities so the inquiry is likely to recommend a small immigration intake including a small number of refugees, especially since it appears our fecundity is a little below the replacement rate and we don't want our population going backwards.

    Hope that answers your question.
