it was brutish, bullying policy designed to intimidate people. Good that its now been now adapted after consulting and carefully considering the NZ views on the matter. Common decency and common sense now prevail over idiotology imo.

I've had several friends who had come to live in Aus from NZ and several Aussies who moved to NZ. I share their love for both countries.

but people who have never lived in NZ should not be arbitrarily sent anywhere. If they've lived in Aus since childhood they've grown up sharing Aus values. I've worked in NSW prisons and I can tell you there are enough mugs born in Aus without freaking out about Kiwis.
