Well I could offer my opinion but at present that would be counterproductive, so as you would say "only you can find out for yourself."
Though I did find it heartening to see you attempt to contribute to the exchange on certain ideas of Buddhism.

BTW gum, what is this problem you have about advice .. sage or otherwise ?
If it isn't appropriate just politely pass on by. (More advice !).
Why make such an issue. It sticks under the foot as insecurity, defense and a need to "prove" yourself.
Remember you are with friends here and there is no need to prove yourself.
Mostly because we are already securely self opinionated and have strongly formed opinions about you, just as you have about us.
As someone once said this ... "just is", so no problem.
