An interesting look at the history of Hungary down the ages. The quintessenital Mittel Europa. I was surprised to hear that the Hungarian language is not related at all to any other of the European language branches - the Romance languages of France, Spain, Italy or the Germanic languages. The only other language it has some relation to is one of the small Baltic countries, plus probably also to some extent its root language somewhere in Central Asia. After hearing this, my disappointment over Hungary's reluctance to join most of Europe in supporting Ukraine has changed. Next to Poland they have taken in the greatest number of refugees and they are the most dependent on Russia's gas.
