How can it be possible for you to have confidence in that statement. Even to have made it you had to be carrying some mistaken assumptions around in your head about what a potency assay is, what's its purpose is, and about who gets to decide whether a proposed or hoped to be potency assay is actually a real, a working, an actual as opposed to theoretical, a validated potency assay.
Consider - what is a potency assay ? What is its purpose in the scheme of things ? Isn't the very purpose of a potency assay to enable the manufacturer of the product (as well as the FDA or any regulator or any miscellaneous auditor (perhaps an auditor for the owner of the IP checking out what is happening in a contract manufacturing plant) to be confident that the product that the producer has produced in the production facility contains the essential active ingredients that are necessary to make the product work effectively when it is placed into patients? That is when it ultimately goes in vivo - into the body of some patient? Isn't it obvious that that is the purpose?
Consider - also who gets to determine whether a potency, a putative potency assay, a hoped for potency assay, an assay that looks to be promising one in theory, actually is one, actually is the final one in fact because another is not necessary because this one is good enough and does it job and performs its essential function well enough, so no still later potential potency assays need to be checked out because this one, is the final one, this one works?
Who gets to decide if its the final one or just a potential one do you think Baz? Where does that power lie? Do you think that perhaps that power might reside in the hands of the regulator rather than in the hands of some company that hopes its product may work as so hopes its potency assay might be effective?
You are an honest soldier I think Baz. A good person. Someone that tries to understand things. Maybe start with some honest questions - don't worry about winning debates with dills where victory is determined on some tick count and on whether you or they think they need to save face in front of others. Start with some honest questions and then maybe some things will become clearer then maybe some real learning that is empowering and potentially wealth generating can happen then.
