Your theory here is vaguely interesting except that you only want buy the high.
There is a distinct difference between the black arts of charting and following a trend.
IMO charting works because there are so many people charting that it becomes a self fulfilling prophecy.
The challenge I make to your thinking about trend is that (as has been pointed out by a few people) you miss out on much of the gains.
Someone I learnt a few things from used to say (quite simply) that for an upwards trending stock, the price you see is almost never the highest price it will trade at. Conversely, for a downward trending stock, the price you see is almost never the lowest price it will trade at. The caveat being you can pick the unlucky price.
Being a fundamentals buyer (while understanding and affording the risks), I was happy to continue buying on the down trend because of my belief and understanding of the value of polynovo and its technology. More recently I've been buying the up trend; and it's served me very well.
