Yes, it's been a tough few months for us gold bugs. Although I've been burnt to some extent, I was fortunate that I decided to sell out of some of my other stocks to start building up a small position in the Vic Goldfields explorers, so I had a bit of luck in that I had some cash out of the market when the big downturn hit.

As a general concept for the Victoria Goldfields, I think that sooner or later that there will be consolidation of the smaller players into one or two very large scale producers. The potential of the Vic Goldfields is still massive, and I think there will be a lot of money to be made in the coming years.

The smaller players which have significant success (and I suspect that most of them will do that) are probably going to make a lot of cash for their shareholders when they get taken over at a premium, and for those with the largest and richest finds, that premium is likely to be very substantial.

I hope to be able to continue quietly building a small position in most of the Vic explorers until the next gold bull run gets underway, when I think we're likely to see some spectacular gains in their share prices. Despite gold being out of favour at the moment, and despite the turmoil in world markets, I'm getting the feeling that the next couple of years will finally produce the gold stocks bonanza that I've waited so many years to see.

Victoria has some of the richest deposits in the world, and appears to be building up steam towards the next big goldrush. And the antimony story could put a lot of icing on the golden cake in Victoria.
